Carved Hymn - How Great Thou Art

Construction & Composition: This large and majestic carved hymn is first milled out on CNC routers. Each piece can take up to 8 hours to carve in detail, and once complete is hand sanded. All the components are then moved to the finishing department where stain is applied by hand. After drying, the pieces are sprayed with a sealant to lock out any moisture and prevent damage. After another round of drying the pieces are sanded again to ensure a smooth surface for the final coat of conversion varnish. Assembly is completed by hand and the finished product is boxed and filled with a cushion of foam for safe transport. All total there is about 20 steps in the production process with as many as a dozen different craftsman taking part.
